I have always had my hands in the mud. Whether in the garden or in the clay studio. I studied environmental design and ecology in school and have worked in parks, forests and in the landscaping business for most of my life. My interest in pottery developed organically along with my interest in the tangled web of life, particularly the botanical world.

Most of my pottery is thrown on a wheel and made out of porcelain clay. I had always been interested in potter, but didn't take my first class until I was out of school.  I have attended numerous workshops and short courses in various aspects of pottery making wherever my travels have taken me. I am currently a member of the Brooklin Pottery Coop, a communal clay studio in Brooklin, Maine. I typically begin my work on the wheel and then often alter the thrown vessels by piercing and excising to reveal an image in shallow relief. I draw my inspiration from the native flora that inhabits the coast of Maine and find connection and pattern in its beauty.
