Inspired by a nine-day journey along Hadrian’s Wall, Peregrination is Abelson’s love letter to the North of England. These new panoramas, scaled up from her typical miniatures, are informed by eighty-four miles of landscape she traversed by foot in September 2025. Precisionist vistas are rendered in Abelson’s signature hand–exacting compositions textured by sandpaper, razorblades, tape, brushes, and even the occasional fingerprint. The work feels both timeworn and timeless–a collection of altered memories from a landscape where the deep past is close at hand.
Lizzie Abelson is a New England native, born and raised in Suffield, Connecticut. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and spent her junior year abroad with RISD’s European Honors Program. She currently lives in Boylston, Massachusetts.
